Dungeons & Dragons Wants to Keep Bringing Baldur’s Gate 3 to Your Tabletop

Ever since Larian Studios has made it clear that it is by and large done with Baldur’s Gate—either continuing to work on the smash-hit Baldur’s Gate 3 beyond its current content patches or creating a new sequel in the beloved RPG series entirely—Wizards of the Coast has been very keen to remind Baldur’s Gate fans that their faves are just a few dice rolls away at any given time. Stars of the game have helped promote Wizards’ upcoming Virtual Tabletop project—which will feature characters from the game to incorporate into your sessions—and its heroes have official character sheets for you to use on the tabletop. And now, they’re making it even easier to whip up Baldur’s Gate-inspired adventures with a whole new line of miniatures.

The latest series of Wizards and Wizkids’ Icons of the Realm pre-painted miniature collection is entirely dedicated to Baldur’s Gate 3, providing ways for you to bring the game’s takes on a litany of D&D creatures and species to your tabletop. The 40-miniature collection, available in blind boxes containing four random miniatures (one large-scaled mini, and three medium or small-scaled ones), includes newly sculpted takes on specific characters like Minthara the Drow Paladin; or general archetypes from the game, like Sharran loyalists and Githyanki warriors; or general creatures and beings like goblins, bugbears, and even bears. Not that bear, specifically, but you could let your imagination wander. It’s a roleplaying game, after all!

For those who just want the main characters, however, Wizkids is releasing a separate boxed collection of seven miniatures to recreate Baldur’s Gate 3‘s main party. Karlach, Astarion, Wyll, Lae’zel, Shadowheart, and Gale are all included, in poses inspired by their appearances in the main art for Baldur’s Gate 3, as is Withers, the totally-not-at-all-suspicious undead mystery man with his own agenda that sits at your camp and occasionally resurrects anyone you got killed in your adventures.

It’s clear Wizards is incredibly keen on trying to keep Baldur’s Gate fans interested in the world of D&D, and keep interest in the latest version of the franchise going considering how huge a boon it’s been for both D&D and in general since its release last year, especially with the latest edition of the tabletop game beginning to roll out. The more and more “official” ways there are to bring these characters into your games begins to feel a little weird at some point. The merch and all is fine, but Baldur’s Gate 3‘s success showed that there’s a huge appetite for new, compelling stories in Dungeons & Dragons‘ myriad worlds, rather than just necessarily finding ways to keep recreating that particular story and the characters we got in it.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 Icons of the Realm collection will release in February 2025, with blind-box packs costing $25 each or $200 for a bundle of eight, and the Baldur’s Gate 3 character collection costing $50.
